Course objectives
The course offers an introduction to translation from and into Dutch. The texts were selected to demonstrate the basic translation issues, such as tension between the source and the target language or translation of realia. At the end of the course, the students will have mastered the basic translation techniques. They will also be able to work with various dictionaries as well as with the medium of internet. Accent is put on translation of personal documents and other official documents. In conclusion, attention is paid to the translation practice and to the status of certified translator.

Within the class a combination of teacher-led activities and student-orientated learning activities.

the students hand in translations every lesson, present one of the topics and there is a written test at the end of the course from translation theory
