- Prerequisites
- Basic orientation in the political history of the 16th and 17th centuries. Basic knowledge of German language. Basic knowledge of the early modern paleography.

- Course objectives
- A selection of crucial themes connected with the problems of the European reformation and the Catholic reform in the 16th and 17th centuries. Students will be able to capture the basic questions of the theme according to a status of the contemporary historical research. Through the work with historical sources will students be able to think about selected problems, as well as to understand the meaning of the documents.

- I. European Reformation: Confessions, church and state, The peace of Augsburg, confessionalization, confessional identity, rites and religious practice.
- II. Catholic reform: The Council of Trent, theology and religious practice, refashioning the Catholic faith.
