Course objectives
The students will gain an overview of the history of state and law of ancient civilizations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome).
The students will be able of interpreting rules of law in the context of their time of origin and importance for further periods of history (the issue of reception of law).
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course the student:
- will be very well versed in the area of the oldest legal sources of ancient Greek and Roman world;
- will be capable of analyzing and interpreting texts with legal content from these regions;
- will be able to explain the specifics of legal life of the ancient world from Mesopotamia and Egypt to ancient Greece and Rome.
