- Course objectives
- The course aims at providing students with a critical-philological approach to ancient texts. Sometimes we will work on unpublished texts or first-hand material (manuscripts or early prints).
It is strongly advised that students of this course should attend also the coursze of Filologia Italiana I / Textual Criticism I or study a good manual of Italian textual criticism (Alfredo Stussi, Pasquale Stoppelli, Paolo Chiesa, or Alberto Varvaro). Students must know the meaning of the following concepts: source, form, multiple forms, authorial variants, fortune, reception, transmission, tradition, critical edition
