- Course objectives
- This course is an introduction to computer-aided translation. The students of this course should acquire competitive knowledge of the following CAT tools:
- WordFast
- StarTransit
- SDLX.
Furthermore, this course is aimed at improving general translation and mother-tongue skills of students and at revealing their own strengths and weaknesses. This course is a must for all students who are considering their careers as (freelance) translators. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to computer-aided translation (translation memories, databases of terminology, MS Office and OpenOffice for translators).
- 2. WordFast from A to Z
- 3. StarTransit from A to Z
- 4. SDLX from A to Z.

- Non-literary translation theory, practical in-class translation, individual work at home.

- Non-evaluated homeworks, three evaluated test translations at home, final in-class test.
