- Course objectives
- The main of aim of the course is to enable our students to visit special courses taking place irregularly outside the regular teaching at the department of philosophy. Primarily we have in mind the course Emerging Sciences and Technologies which the department of philosophy coorganizes with the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design at VUT. Course objective is to understand basic knowledge in the area of emerging (convergent) sciences and technologies, which are consequence of the interaction between mechanical engineering and natural sciences; especially nanotechnology, biotechnology, biomedicine, IT, and cognitive sciences. It is more unification of scientific disciplines than multidisciplinary cooperation.
- Learning outcomes
- General knowledge of possibilities, which are provided by new emerging sciences and technologies. Students should be able to creatively use findings and outcomes of emerging sciences and technologies when thinking about new machines and devices and their philosophical implications.
