Course objectives
This optional seminar is designed for those interested in using the techniques of creative writing both in school and off-school education or in preparing for educative practice.
The techniques practiced in the seminar will be divided into several groups:
1. exercises aimed at expanding students language abilities
2. exercises aimed at excpanding literary abilities
3. exercises aimed at criticism and interpretation of texts
4. playing with texts (onomatopoeic texts, completing texts, textual experiments)
5. texts for private use (diary, methods of unblocking)
6. projects, workshops, text presentation
7. working with school (textbook) teaching texts; making use of them in school and home work.
At the end of the course students should be able to create various simple literary and non-fiction texts and understand and explain the process of their creative writing.
Syllabus
  • The participants to the seminar will practice creative techniques according to instructions and will solve pedagogical problems connected with reading and composing texts in different areas, e.g. in teaching Czech as a mother tongue or as a foreign language, teaching literature and composition, creative work in humanities. The seminar will point at pedagogic and educational specifics of creative writing and at the possibilities of their use; the participants will suggest new tasks and their solutions appliable in educational practice.
