- This examination is at CPE / C2 (European Framework) level. It is an oral Proficiency Examination - CAE level FORMAT: Part 1 (3 minutes) Interview Part 2 (5 minutes) Picture description - individual turns Part 3 (5 minutes) Collaborative task based on visual materials
- Learning outcomes
- Learners will be able to: 1. Speak on their own for an extended period of time showing good control of sophisticated grammatical structures and lexis. 2. Describe pictures in as much detail as possible using vocabulary particularly relevant to the photographs. 3. Manage their discourse effectively in terms of contribution relevance, coherence and cohesion. 4. Demonstrate turn taking skills during the collaborative task, express opinions on the topic posed, and react appropriately to their partner's contributions. 5. Speak in such a way that is intelligible and places little strain on the listener.
- Syllabus
- Part 1: Interview At the beginning of the speaking test the candidates will be given the opportunity to offer personal information. Part 2: Picture description - individual turns In this part of the test each candidate should talk on their own for about two minutes. Each candidate will be given a photograph to describe. They should try as much as possible to use the vocabulary particularly relevant to the photograph. Part 3: Collaborative task based on visual materials. The candidates will be asked to talk together for about three minutes in connection to the task related to the visual material provided. Then they will answer questions related to the task.
