Course objectives
The aim of the course to acquaint the student with the methodology of the structural linguistics, to put it in the context of the linguistic methodology in general and demonstrate its advantages.
Learning outcomes
Finishing the course the student will be: - familiar with the basic ideas of linguistic structuralism - able to choose a suitable methodology for the solving specific problems of linguistic analysis - able to apply them to solve these specific problems

  • Topics discussed: 1. Structural thinking as a method of a cognition 2. Semiotics and linguistics 3. Structure of the language and the language of the structure 4. paradigma and syntagma 5. elements and systems 6. Dynamics and stability of the language system 7. The theory of oppositions and the theory beyond the oppositions
