- Course objectives
- The course deals with the history of museums and museology in Slovakia, as well as collecting and collections in itself, from oldest traditions to the present. The aim of this course is to provide a basic overview of the development of Slovak museum institutions throughout time and gain knowledge of specifics, related to the phenomenon of musealization on the territory of Slovakia.
- Learning outcomes
- - summarize the history of museums and museology in Slovakia, as well as collecting and collections in itself, from oldest traditions to the present

- - Introduction (definition of topic, state of research, recommended literature).
- - Oldest collecting traditions on the territory of Slovakia.
- - Establishment of the first museums (18th-19th century).
- - 19th century and the efforts to support Slovak museums.
- - Museum institutions in Slovakia in the second half of the 19th century.
- - Foundation of Slovak Museum Society and its importance in the development of Slovak museums.
