- Course objectives
- In this language course the manual Hogerop! De puntjes op de i. Nederlands voor vergevorderde anderstaligen (2006) by Winnie Geurtsen, Ghislaine Giezenaar en Ada van Deijk serves as a basis. The book is suitable for university students who want to improve their level of Dutch on different fields (speaking, reading, listening and writing). At the end of the course the students should be able to pass the exams for the profiles “Taalvaardigheid Hoger Onderwijs” and “Academische Taalvaardigheid” of the „Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde taal“ (Certificate of Dutch as a foreign language), corresponding resp. with B2 and C1 of the Common European Framework.
- Learning outcomes
- Students of the courses Practical Language I - IV are working on obtaining C1 according to ERR.

- Seven "language acts" are dealt with in the manual Hogerop! De puntjes op de i. Nederlands voor vergevorderde anderstaligen (2006): giving and asking for information, exchange and defend points of view, speaking about extreme things and events, criticizing en reacting to criticism, dealing with directness and discretion, and speaking about emotions and using humor.

- Teaching methods
- Intensive student-orientated seminars: writing, reading, conversation, presentations, prosody, listening and language exercises.
- Assessment methods
- The student takes actively part in seminars that are held every week. The student successfully passes all separate tests and works out a presentation and at the end of the course his knowledge will be tested by a written and oral exam.
