Course objectives
The goal of the course is to equip the students with the knowledge of the objectives, functions, principles, instruments and effects of social policy, about the social and economic factors which influence its development, about the actual problems and solutions adopted in the Czech Republic and abroad. The students should understand the processes of forming social policy, the role of various factors in this process, understand various effects of social policy and to acquire the principles of analysis of social policies. They also should gain the prerequisites for finding socially and economically suitable solutions of social problems.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- describe the objectives of social policy according to the types of welfare state,
- describe the factors that influence social policy making,
- be oriented in the social protection systems in the Czech Republic,
- give examples of social policy principles.

Assessment methods
discussion, seminar paper Final written exam. The written exam consists of 5 questions, rated 100 points, for the successful passing of the credit it is necessary to obtain at least 60 points.
