Course objectives
The goal of the diploma seminar is to assist the student in completing the diploma thesis and prepare for its successful defence. This timetable for the consultations is arranged on an individual basis.The diploma thesis addresses a scholarly issue at a level appropriate to the degree being pursued. In the diploma thesis the student must demonstrate the ability to work independently in keeping with academic standards, a knowledge and understanding of the relevant scholarly literature and the ability to analyze the issue under study.
Learning outcomes
Define the problem, create working hypotheses, properly selest work goals,
work with professional literature and other sources of information - search, classify and generalize information,
find and use the appropriate method to solving the problem,
proceed in accordance with the ethical principles of scientific / technical work,
prepare and manage the project.
Syllabus
  • 1. Selection of the topic of the diploma thesis.
  • 2. Selection of the supervisor.
  • 3. Specification of the topic of the diploma thesis, setting goals and formulation of the solved professional problem.
  • 4. Elaboration of a detailed outline.
  • 5. Study and description of the current state of knowledge about the problem to be solved (facts, knowledge, opinions, intentions and motives).
  • 6. Conceptual plan of the research plan/project.

Teaching methods
Individual consultations with thesis advisor according to the student's needs and with regard to the level and progress of the work.
Assessment methods
The advisor awards the course-unit credit for the semester on the basis of progress made and student-advisor consultations.
