- Course objectives
- This course offers a brief introduction into the study of social and cultural issues in the Spanish speaking countries of Latin America.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will have an understanding of the importance of the historical background, and all decisive circumstances that contributed to the creation of cultural legacies.

- 1. National, ethnic and cultural identity issues in Latin America. 2. Native people of Hispanic North America, their history, roots and cultural legacy. 3. - Teaching methods
- Master classes will focus on an outline of a specific theme, which will be linked to seminars. Students are expected to prepare presentations, that will serve as a starting point for further discussion in class. Homework preparation is required. Students should meet assignment deadlines.
- Assessment methods
- Attendance is compulsory, regular homework preparation and active involvement in seminars is expected. Presentation of a selected topic in class and a written essay. Final exam: written test (success rate: 70%).
