Course objectives
The course is connected to obligatory courses Czech Sign Language II, Language Practice II and Conversation II. It focuses on the practice of CSL lexicon defined by seven thematic areas and also on understanding the grammar of CSL. Special focus is given to the simultaneity phenomena and the use of space. The lectures are based on work with videos and e-learning. Students train their visual orientation via visual media and they learn how to express themselves in CSL in front of the camera. Twice in the semester, their video recordings will be analyzed and they will receive feedback from the teacher with the typology of the mistakes.
Learning outcomes
Students will understand phrases and expressions concerning the basic information (personal and family information, shopping, geography, jobs), in case the signing is slow and clear. Students are able to give short talks in CSL: presentation of people in their surroundings, description of life or working conditions, every-day regime, their likes and dislikes etc. They use short sentences and coordinated structures.
