Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the field of legal translation, present basic resources and possibilities of training in this area, and demonstrate possible translation methods and approaches.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- translate legal texts with respect to the differences in legal systems
- communicate in an informed way with commissioners of legal translations
- look up information and terms in relevant sources

  • (1) Translation for the EU (2) GDPR, privacy policies (3) Law of corporations (4) Civil proceedings (5) Criminal proceedings
Teaching methods
lectures, hands-on seminar work, home assignments, independent research

Assessment criteria:
credit – attendance (1 absence allowed), homework assignments
exam – attendance (1 absence allowed), homework assignments, final take-home translation
