- Course objectives (in Czech)
- The aim of this course is to enable students to become teachers and apply their theoretical knowledge of the language, language acquisition and EFL didactics to lesson planning, teaching and reflection. Students reflect on their own and their colleagues’ teaching, as well as complete analytical and reflective tasks, based on recordings of their teaching practice. Students also compile a portfolio for future reference, which will be worked with at the final State exam.
- Learning outcomes (in Czech)
- After completing the course, a student will be able to: 1. Plan a 45 minute English language skills/systems lesson that contains appropriate lesson aims and stages, suitable interaction patterns, a balance of activities, appropriate timing for different stages, analysis of language with a clear focus on meaning, form and use, and anticipated problems and solutions. 2. Select, adapt and supplement material appropriate to the learners’ needs; teach a class with an awareness of their needs and learning preferences. 3. Teach a 45 minute English language skills/systems lesson demonstrating effective execution of their planning, adjusting their language appropriately to the level, identifying and correcting errors, managing and organizing the class. 4. Analyse their own teaching classroom planning and practice. 5. Reflect on their teaching skills in terms of strengths and weaknesses; identify how they are able to develop in the areas of weakness identified in their future teaching. 6. Give and receive constructive feedback.

- Course meetings are on a bi-weekly basis. Students set their aims for the teaching practice in the particular semester. Students reflect on their observation and teaching experience based on their reflective notes.
