- Translation of Spanish (programme FF, N-PMEJ_)
- Course objectives
- The main goal of the course is to acquaint students with selected thematic areas related to legal Spanish. A wide range of different types of legal texts will be used to present the specialized terminology. The texts will be used further on in translation seminars.
- Learning outcomes
- Students are acquainted with the main issues in the field of Legal Spanish and they have a thorough overview of the most common types of legal texts. Students have knowledge of the specialized terminology and they are able to use it adequately in the translation process.

- 1. Specific Features of Legal terminology. 2. General Characteristics of Legal Czech. 3. General Characteristics of Legal Spanish 4. Translation of Legal texts from Spanish to Czech. 5. Translation of Legal texts from Czech to Spanish. 6. The Spanish Language used in the judiciary context. 7. The Spanish Language used in the Civil Code. 8. The Spanish Language used in the civil proceedings context. 9. The Spanish Language used in the Criminal Law. 10. The Spanish Language used in the Economic Law and Labor Law.

- Teaching methods
- This course, which focuses on legal Spanish, uses the basic teaching methods common in translation seminars. Assignments are based on the active involvement of students. Students individually, in pairs, or in a team. Thorough home preparation is necessary.
- Assessment methods
- Attendance in classes is compulsory. Regular homework is required. Students should meet assignment deadlines. Final exam: Written test (success rate: 70%).
