- Course objectives
- A seminar about the book market in many times and centuries. What connects Virginia Woolf, Bozena Nemcova, bibliodiversity and cultural policy? We will look for answers in the texts, but above all in the discussions we will have over them. Theoretical foundations for book market practice. Suitable for first-year readers, future writers and librarians. Spoiler alert: There will be reading and discussion. Take notes if you're not afraid to do so.
- Learning outcomes
- What will you know after this course? Think differently about books and how they are made. Why does it matter under what conditions books are made? How to set good conditions for the authors? We will explore Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own and meet over the letters of Božena Němcová. We'll also visit Eisner's Language Corner and figure out how to talk about books we haven't read. And much more.
