- Course objectives
- Basic theoretical overview of Bulgarian syntax, differences and similarities with Czech language, overview of Bulgarian terminology.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate the knowledge of Bulgarian syntax, have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of linguistics, have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of comparative study of Slavonic languages, be familiar with Bulgarian grammar, and contrast and compare Czech and Bulgarian language.

- Teaching methods
- One lecture and one seminar per week, presentation of paper on topic from comparative Bulgarian-Slavic grammar. Seminar thesis.
- Assessment methods
- The course has a form of a lecture and a class discussion. A condition for admission to the exam - public presentation of paper. Aim of this paper is to look deeper at a specialized linguistic text, notice its formal side and structure, as well as work with secondary literature. Oral test should examine the orientation in the professional terminology and the ability of text analysis.

- For a more detailed introduction to the current state of the Bulgarian language and its development during the second half of the 20th century, I recommend the monograph Bălgarski ezik, which is written in Bulgarian and comes from the Polish edition Najnowsze dzieje języków słowiańskich (Opole, 1997).
