Course objectives
Mastering the rudiments of practical work processes in some professions connected with the history of visual arts.
Learning outcomes
On practical demonstrations, the student will be acquainted with the most common work processes in the museum, monument care or sales gallery of fine arts. Student can apply the acquired knowledge in the date of monuments, propose their suitable presentation, preservation methods.
Syllabus
  • 1. Monument care - getting to know various types of researches (building historical, restoring, stratigraphy, dendrology), basic rules for the restoration of monuments, contemporary legislation of the monument care, moveable funds of castles and chateaus.
  • 2. The art market - auctions, galleries, catalogue processing.
  • 3. Basic terms - the history of ornament, themes and symbols in visual arts.
