Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to acquire the basic orientation in German grammar, which deals with parts of speech. The first part focuses on inflected forms (except the verbs - subject of German grammar II) as well as the other parts of speech, with particular attention being paid to the use of articles.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to identify and analyse the German parts of speech in text, he /she will also be able to master their normative description and use.

  • Classification of German parts of speech
  • Paradigms of German flectional parts of speech
  • The German noun and their variables
  • The German adjective and their variables
  • Rules for comparison of adjectives
  • German pronouns, its types and paradigms and variables
  • The paradigms of the definite and undefinite article and the basic rules for its use
  • The German unflectional parts of speech: preposition, conjunction, expletives and interjection,
