- Course objectives
- The goal of the B.A. diploma seminar II is to assist the student in completing the diploma thesis and prepare him/her for its successful defence. The diploma thesis addresses a scholarly issue at a level appropriate to the Bachelor's degree.
- Learning outcomes
- The student must demonstrate his/her ability to work independently in keeping with academic standards, a knowledge and understanding of the relevant scholarly literature and the ability to analyze the issue under study. Furthermore, he has to demonstrate his/her ability to write a coherent text that meets the standards of academic writing, and to present his/her results in the B.A. Thesis Seminar.
- Syllabus
- The course consists of individual consultations with the thesis supervisor, depending on the specific demands of the degree program and thesis´s topic, and participation at the B.A. Thesis Seminar of the Department of Classical Studies.
- The seminar is organized as follows:
- Presentation of individual chapters and a work-in-progress of the B.A. diploma thesis.
- Discussion and feedback for individual students.
- Literature

- Teaching methods
- Individual advisor-student tutorial in methodology of writing the diploma thesis: synopsis, introduction, methods of text analysis, argumentation and conclusion. Presentation of the work-in-progress in the B.A. Thesis Seminar. Discussion on presentations of other students.
- Assessment methods
- The advisor awards the course-unit credit for the semester on the basis of the active class attendance (min. 70%), individual student's work during the semester, and the presentation in the Thesis Seminar.
