Course objectives
The course proposes an initiation to the Basque cinema and through it a way learn also about Basque culture, history and language. For that purpose, students will watch, analyze and discuss different films.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to identify the main trends of Basque cinematography, as well as give a context and an interpretation to Basque movies.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to Basque cinema. 2. The use and presence of Basque language in Basque cinema industry. 3. Basque question in cinema. 4. Three generations: 80, 90 and the third generation KIMUAK. 5. Getting identity out of focus through parody 6. Future: Basque audiovisual underground

Teaching methods
The lectures will discuss about the films, previously watched by the students. Therefore, participation and positive attitude are essential in this subject. The students will conduct an oral presentation at the end of the course.
Assessment methods
Presentation oral. Participation. In addition to active participation and homework, to pass the subject is essential to attend classes.
