Syllabus
  • Online Part
  • a) A seminar once in two weeks during the semester
  • Video observation - together we will have a look at model video recordings of lessons and we will try to evaluate them. Based on this assessment, we will attempt to specify what an online language lesson must and mustn’t include.
  • Lesson planning - we will get acquainted with the basic online lesson planning rules illustrated on particular examples from actual practice.
  • Lesson planning: teacher’s materials and additional material for the student, etc. - after having prepared a lesson plan at home, we will discuss what has to be done and prepared in order to realize the lesson plan without problems.
  • Creative workshop: Creating one’s own lesson plan and additional materials - the seminar will be devoted to the preparation of two lesson plans and additional materials for lessons with selected students. Students’ work evaluation + lesson plan modification based on feedback - following the first lesson with selected students, we will summarize the positive and negative aspects and try to prepare another lesson considering the first experience
  • Final conclusion, introducing possible applications
  • E-learning Part
  • b) self-study fulfilling designed tasks and preparation for face-to-face seminars
  • Evaluating video observation - every student will write an evaluation of one of the video recordings following the seminar’s model
  • Online lesson planning - observing the model, students will prepare a lesson plan on a selected topic (Self)evaluation of the trial lesson with a colleague - using the prepared lesson plan and materials, pairs of students will try to teach each other a 30 minute lesson of Czech as a foreign language. The lessons will be recorded and the video recordings will be uploaded to the e-learning course where they will be evaluated both by other colleagues as well as teachers.
  • (Self)evaluation of the first lesson with a student of Czech as a foreign language - students will use the prepared lesson plan and materials to teach their first lesson with their student. The recordings will be treated in the same way as the trial lesson ones.
  • (Self)evaluation of the second lesson with a student of Czech as a foreign language - students will use the prepared lesson plan and materials to teach their second lesson with their student. The recordings will be treated in the same way as the trial lesson ones.
