Course objectives
At the end of the course the student will carry out quantitative or quantitative research in his or her bachelor thesis. The subject is practically conceived, students will gradually pass through the process of quantitative research on the example of questionnaire or qualitative research on the example of interviews during the course. With the second approach, they become acquainted with the theoretical and discussion level.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- justify the choice of research design and describe its benefits and limits;
- define a questionnaire and interview methodology;
- create a questionnaire and interview scenario;
- evaluate research data using descriptive statistics and open encoding;
- interpret the research results and describe his or her own research in the bachelor thesis.
Syllabus
  • 1. Research objective, problem, questions. Purpose of research. Importance and procedure literature review.
  • 2. Comparison of quantitative and qualitative research with respect to the research goal. Phases of both approaches. Ethics of research.
  • 3. Population and research sample and entry into the terrain.
  • Qualitative Research
  • 4. Creating an interview scenario.
  • 5. Encoding of qualitative data.
  • 6. Interpretation of qualitative research results.
  • Quantitative Research
  • 7. Variables and their operationalization.
  • 8. Creating a questionnaire and tools for its distribution.
  • 9. Cleaning quantitative data.
  • 10. Descriptive statistics.
  • 11. Interpretation of research results.
