Course objectives
Practicing of vocabulary learnt at the Language course, synonyms and the ability to realize their stylistic value. Translating common texts from Czech to Slovenian/Croatian/Serbian/Bulgarian.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students should be able to describe new grammar phenomena acquired in this semester and use their knowledge in spoken and written interaction. By using the acquired vocabulary and grammar they can create text or speak about related topics. Students are able to understand written text and interpret it.
Syllabus
  • Slovenian:
  • Public life. Post, phone, bank, customs, traffic, police, diplomacy, first aid, hospital, information of all kind. Culture and society. Art, history and other interesting things, language, religion, holidays and customs. Media. Radio, television, press, internet. Economics. Kinds of stores, shopping, fashion and clothing, prices and sales, money, ways of paying, advertisement.
  • Croatian:
  • Conversation and discussion on various topics, retelling of a text, written expression, analysis of short stories, practicing argumentation.
  • Serbian:
  • 1. marriage, family 2. fashion 3. food 4. biological clocks 5 recreation and health 6. language and communication 7. revision 8. arts 9. technology 10. ecology 11. holidays, custom 12. cosmos.
  • Bulgarian:
  • 1. Essay writing. 2. Grammar exercises. 3. New vocabulary. 4. 5. Grammar exercises. 6. Tests. 7. Specific prepositions. 8. Bulgarian temporal system. 9. Specific usage of Bulgarian past tenses 10. Grammar test 11. New vocabulary. 12. Revision.

Teaching methods
Seminar (two hours per week), essays, translations from relevant South Slavonic languages to Czech, home preparation, in the seminar a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.
Assessment methods
Regular attendance, homework and home preparation required. Upon fulfilling all requirements listed the students must pass a final test.
