Course objectives
Course description: This one is designed to improve every aspect of your everyday English and to help you learn real language skills for real life situations. The courses are based on the communicative method and are aimed to develop all four skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing; expand your vocabulary and practise grammar.
Learning outcomes
students will: expand their vocabulary; gain confidence in speaking; practise grammatical structures on given level; improve pronunciation; improve their ability to understand spoken language and to respond appropriately and naturally
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Textbook: English File Elementary 4th edition, Course content - grammar: present tenses questions past tenses and time connectors expressing future present perfect relative clauses comparatives and superlatives Course content - topics and functions: describing people - their appearance, qualities and clothes, travel, plans for the future, shopping, describing a city phrasal verbs, collocations, everyday English

grammar/vocabulary presentations, class discussions, homework
Assessment methods
Credits will be awarded based on attendance - you must meet 75% attendance to be eligible. The course is a year-long course, 32 hours in total. The autumn term part comprises 17 weeks of teaching, taught during the exam period too. You may miss 8 lessons in total, 5 in the autumn part. In the event of long term illness, please contact the course organiser.
