Course objectives
The objective of this course (Practical Dutch III/1) and the follow up course (Practical Dutch III/2) is to reach level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. All basic language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing) are practised. The focus is on vocabulary training but also grammar knowledge is repeated, extended and practised.
Learning outcomes
At the end of Practical Dutch III/1 and III/2, students have acquired an extensive vocabulary and master the grammar of Dutch. They perform at level B2 on all four skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading). See the CEFR for can-do statements.

  • We use the text book "Nederlands op niveau" (revised edition) and cover the last three chapters of the book, supplemented with other (authentic) materials. A short overview of the content of the book (the original titles in Dutch are mentioned):

Assessment methods
Presence and active participation are required. The student prepares weekly assignments. The exam consists of a written part (vocabulary, grammar, listening/writing) and an oral part.
