- Course objectives
- The course is divided into two thematic units, each pursuing specific goals. The first unit focuses on substitute family care. The aim is to understand the fundamental issues, become familiar with the various forms of substitute family care (adoption, foster care in its various forms, guardianship, custody, entrusting a child to care, and “host care”), and understand its legislative framework. A further goal is to understand how to mediate different forms of substitute family care, emphasising adoption and foster care. At the same time, the aim is to become familiar with the preparation of adoptive parents and foster carers for their roles. The second unit of the course focuses on the issue of institutional care. The goal is to understand the conditions and rules for placing children in different types of institutions.
