- Course objectives
- Main objectives can be summarized as follows: 1. to get knowledge of possibilities of eclectic partial utilization of variours managment approaches in work psychology 2. to find main applications of psychological knowledge in the field of work and personell management.
- Learning outcomes
- Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
critically evaluate historical management systems, judge their advantages and disadvantages and apply partial managment approaches in contemporary organisations;
on the basis of gained information assess the degree of work related stress in various professions;
understand specific needs of unemployed people and offer them suitable psychological help
define main components of organisation culture and understand their significance in the organisational context;
to find main applications of psychological knowledge in the field of personell management, organisation and work. - Syllabus
- 1. development and subject of work psychology
- 2. basic management theories and its psychological aspects (a) mechanistic approach to organization (e.g. Weber, Taylor); b) Hawthorne studies, Hawthorne effect (Mayo); c) humanistic approach to organization (e.g. Maslow, McGregor); d) modern approach to organization (e.g. Ouchi) e) postmodern approach to organization (e.g. Morgan, Clegg))
