Course objectives
The aim of the course is to inform students about problems of children with autistic sprectrum disorders, about their specific needs a and about impact of these diagnosis on the family system.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: - understand specific needs of children with ASD and their families;
- applied theoretical knowledge into working with children with ASD and participate in it;
- create suitable plan of activities for families with children with ASD.
Syllabus
  • 1. main principles and requirements of the course
  • 2. basic theoretical information on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
  • 3.case studies seminar - meeting with parents of children with ASD
  • 4. practical demonstrations of programmes for children with ASD (canistherapy, musictherapy,...)
  • 5. participation in preparing and organisation of activities for families with children with ASD
  • 6. excursions
Teaching methods
lectures, group work, discussion, excursion, work with specialized publications, active participation in implemented programs
Assessment methods
Completion requirements: 1. active participation in lessons - 80% min 2. active participation in realisation of events for families with cildren with ASD 3. group project - comprehensive plan of programme for families with cildren with ASD 4. individual seminar work on a given topic
