Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the specific needs and requirements of children and adolescents with ASD to spend their leisure time, their possibilities and limitations that must be respected in leisure activities.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- understand the specific needs of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder with respect to symptom level and developmental period;
- design appropriate leisure activities for groups of people with ADS that respect their needs and requirements;
- to fulfil the role of assistants for children and adolescents with  ADS in leisure activities.
Syllabus
  • 1. acquaintance with the rules of teaching and requirements for successful completion of the course;
  • 2. defining the basic principles for working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD);
  • 3. the development needs of children and adolescents with regard to varying degrees of symptomatology;
  • 4. group work - designing your own leisure activity for children and adolescents with ASD;
  • 5. preparation of a programme (own or organised by a cooperating organisation);
  • 6. active participation in the programme, involvement in direct work with children and adolescents with ASD;
