Course objectives
The course, which will involve students from teacher education programmes in three different countries (Masaryk University, University Paris Nanterre, and University Potsdam), will enable students to discuss what competencies are expected of teachers in different systems and how these competencies are set and reflected in teacher education. It will also allow students to discuss key didactic topics, including general ones such as lesson planning and topical ones such as addressing the needs of individual learners in the classroom, inclusive education or competence orientation. At the same time, the course allows students to take a field trip together to a school in the host country, reflect on the observed teaching and discuss it in an international perspective.
Learning outcomes
Students will discuss the national standards for future teachers and the possibilities of verifying their fulfilment during their studies, they will share their experiences of what helps them to acquire these competencies in their education and, on the contrary, what is lacking in their education. • Students will plan integrated thematic learning together and share their products. • Students will discuss current challenges being addressed in different education systems. • Students will complete a high school field trip together with reflection on the field trip and a follow-up discussion. • Students will elaborate on local history and culture as a teaching topic (including museum and local sights visits, such as Vila Tugendhat). • Students will take a field trip to the Experimental Humanities Laboratory.
