Course objectives
Four-day excursion supplements the lecture Mire ecology. Its aim is to demonstrate the ecological patterns and research methods in this habitat.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- delimit major vegetational types of mires and springs in field;
- predict species composition and structure of plant and animal assemblages;
- record key environmental factors directly in field;
- take peat samples from deep layers;
- identify selected species of bryophytes, vascular plants and molluscs.

  • 2) Rich fens with calcium-tolerant Sphagna
