- Course objectives
- The students will: gain knowledge of the plant cell compartments and reproduction, of the energy flow and metabolic integration in plants, and of the plant interactions with the environment; be able to discuss these topics in English both verbally and in writing.

- After completing the course, student will have deep knowledge of the plant cell compartments and reproduction, of the energy flow and metabolic integration in plants, and of the plant interactions with the environment; be able to discuss these topics in English both verbally and in writing.
- Syllabus
- Plant Cell: organelles, exocytosis and endocytosis, plant cell division.
- Membrane and Cell Wall: plant membranes, membrane transport, cell-to-cell transport, cell wall.
- Genes and Proteins: amino acids, nucleic acids, genomes, protein synthesis and degradation.
- Photosynthesis: chloroplast, light absorption, reaction centers, electron transport pathways, ATP synthesis, carbon reactions.
- Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolism: sucrose, starch, pentose phosphate pathway, glycolysis, respiration, fatty acids, lipids.
- Nutrients: potassium, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus.
- Hormones and Signal Transdution: signal perception, transduction and integration, phytohormones.
- Responses to Stress: immunity, defense, abiotic stress.
- Secondary Metabolites: terpenoids, cyanogenic glycosides, glucosinolates, alkaloids, phenolic compounds.
- Reproduction and Senescence: molecular regulation of reproductive development, cell death and senescence.
