Course objectives
During the course of the semester the students will form groups and work on a selected bioinformatic project. The main aim of the course is to teach the students to cooperate and perform the task including the result interpretation and presentation of results as a team.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student will be able to: - comprehend the biological and bioinformatic background of the data and methods applied and how it influences the project - perform the data analysis of an a-priori unknown dataset (description of dataset limitations, descriptive statistics, ...) - work as part of a team - present the results
Syllabus
  • The data will be selected from the following domains: - next generation sequencing data (genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics - microbiome) - DNA sequencing - mass spectrometry data (metabolomics, proteomics) - structural bioinformatics - and alike
