- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to give the students the idea about particular experimental methods of contemporary physics, its successes and challenges it faces. This goal is achieved by lectures, excursions and own presentations of the students about important experiments.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, the student will:
have an overview about experimental methods of contemporary physics
be able to describe several modern experiments including how they are controlled
have an idea about some modern experiments that are performed at world-class research centres in Brno. - Syllabus
- The contents of the course is subject to continuous actualization, with the basis being the following:
- experiment with electron antibunching in vacuum
- interference of fullerenes and other large molecules
- neutron interferometry
- manipulation with microscopic objects with light (optical tweezers)
- spatial light modulator
- imaging with multimode optical fibres
- excursions, in particular to Institute of Scientific instruments, Czech metrology institute, and Faculty of mechanical engineering of VUT
