- Course objectives
- Introduction - Position of metamorphism in geological processes, basic terms, classification of metamorphic processes, factors of metamorphism. Classification of metamorphic rocks - Based on chemical composition, protolith, modal mineralogical composition and structure. Minerals of metamorphic rocks. Phase petrology - ACM, AFM diagrams, mineral reactions, petrogenetic grids. Mineral reactions in metapelites I. Mineral reactions in metapelites II. Mineral reactions in metabazites. Mineral reactions in metaultramafic and metacarbonate rocks Contakt metamorphism, shock metamorphism, hydrothermal metamorphism, metasomatism. Less abundant metamorphic rocks - Metaferolites, metamanganolites, skarns, greisens. Metamorphic processes in plate tectonics. P-T-t diagrams, radiometric dating of minerals. Metamorphism in the Bohemian Massif. - Typical examples of various metamorphic types, metamorphism in the individual regional units.
