- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The main goal of the course Fundamentals of PC Handling is to provide students with information about handling of a PC computer and operating system MS-Windows NT (2000, XP). The students also obtain knowledge and skills dealing with text processor, spreadsheet and other application software.
- Syllabus
- Basic concepts. History of computers. Number systems. Units of information.
- Basic components of a computer (processor, operating memory, peripheries, ...)
- Operating system - basic concepts and functions.
- Operating system MS-Windows NT (2000, XP). Files, directories, tree directory structure, basic possibilities of operating system setting. MS-Windows programs.
- Text processor (MS-Word). Text typing, correcting, saving and formatting. Tables, drawing, document printing.
- Spreadsheet (MS-Excel). Basic operations with spreadsheet. Formulas, charts, document printing.
- Standard formats of files and programs for their processing.
- Compression and decompression of files.
- Object linking and embedding (Clipboard, OLE).
- Computer viruses and protection.
