- Classification of electroanalytical methods. Potentiometry. Polarography and voltammetry. Stripping voltammetry. Cyclic voltammetry. Chronopotentiometry. Electrogravimetry and coulometry. Voltammetric titrations. Conductometric analysis.
- Syllabus
- Electroanalytical Methods 1. Introduction. Definition of electroanalytical methods and their classification, bibliography. 2. Potentiometry. Nernst equation, standard potential, potential measurements, metal, amalgam and gas electrodes, reference electrodes. 3. Potentiometric titrations. 4. Ion Selective Electrodes. Definition, membrane (Donnan ) potential, construction of ISEs, solid and liquid membranes, ion, gas-sensing and enzyme ISEs. 5. Nicolski equation, selectivity coeffitients and their determination, applications of ISEs. 6. pH Measurements. Definition of pH, standard buffer solutions, pH electrodes, pH in nonaqueous solvents. 7. Electrolysis. Some definitions, current-voltage curves, indicator electrodes. 8. Electrogravimetric Analysis. Cells and electrodes, procedures, conditions conducive to optimum characteristics of metal deposits. Internal electrolysis. 9. Coulometry. Principles of coulometry, Faraday`s Law. Controlled potential coulometry, constant current coulometry, coulometric titration. 10. DC Polarography. Introduction, instrumentation and general technique, current-potential characteristics, Ilkovic equation, diffusion, capacity, kinetic and catalytic currents, analytical applications of polarography. 11. AC, SW and Pulse Polarography. Principles, applications. 12. Voltammetry. Stripping and Cyclic Voltammetry. Chronopotentiometry. Principles, applications. 13. Voltammetric Titrations. Principles of amperometric, biamperometric, potentiometric and bipotentiometric titrations with polarized indicator electrodes. 14. Conductometry. Conductometric Titration. High Frequency Methods. Dielectrometry. Principles, applications.
