Course objectives
The course is devoted mainly to the students of geology (master program). The general goal is the complete introduce to ground water protection. The single chapters include preventive and subsequent ground water protection, characterization of common ground water contaminants and their migration, overview of remediation technologies.
Syllabus
  • History and progress of the ground water protection
  • contaminants and their properties
  • migration of the contaminants through the saturated and unsaturated zone; decontamination processes
  • ground water resources protection; protection of the ground water recharging areas; protection contrary to depletion of the storage reserve
  • ground water protection related with agricultural and industrial activities; landfills and dumpping; transport and traffic activities affecting ground water quality; protection contrary to mining activities; protection of the mineral water
