- Course objectives
- The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with quantitative aspects of contaminant migration and remediation of contaminated sites, including risk analysis.
- Syllabus
- Transport processes (advection, diffusion, dispersion, adsorption, decay), solution of transport equations using analytical and numerical models, introductory thermodynamics and kinetics, introduction to code Phreeqc, contamination from mining wastes, redox processes and transport of metals, transport of organic contaminants and their distribution between phases, remediation methods (pumping and treatment, venting, reactive barriers etc.).
