- At the end of the course students should be able to give unde survey of technological operations applied in chemical and biochemical technology. Principles, devices, use.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction. Technological processes. Periodical and continuous processes. Economical aspects of production. Mass and energetic balance. Performance and effectiveness.
- 2. Hydromechanical operations. Physical backgrounds.
- 3. Hydrostatics and hydrodynamics, flow character.
- 4. Transport of liquids and gases.
- 5. Liquid and gaseous mixtures separations.
- 6. Heat processes. Heat transfer. Heating and cooling. Evaporation and drying.
- 7. Phase separations. Extraction, adsorption.
- 8. Diffusion operations.
- 9. Mechanical treatment of solids, crushing, mixing.
- 10. Measuring and controlling equpments in biotechnological processes.
- 11. Biotechnological reactors, laboratory, pilot and large-scale fermentors.
- 12. Disintegration of microorganisms. Basic principles of isolation procedures.
- 13. Modelling of fermentation processes, scale-up problems.
- 14. Examples and calculations in modelling.
