Prerequisites
A general knowledge of hydrodynamics, thermodynamics and general relativity by courses (F4120) "Theoretical mechanics", (F6040) "Thermodynamics and statistical physics" a (F7140) "General relativity". The course follows (F4190) "Introduction to physics of stellar systems".

Course objectives
This course is intended as an introduction to basic characteristics of galaxies and methods of the galactic development. Observational facts are demonstrated on a simple models. Highlights are focused on Unified model of active galactic nucleus which offers unified view on widely known phenomena like quasars. The course is intended as introduction to modern extragalactic astrophysics and provides general background for understanding of recent progress on this field.

  • Morphology of active galaxies.
