- Prerequisites
- The subject extends previous lectures in meteorology, climatology, and introduction to study of the Earth. Expected is extended knowledge of mathematics and physics.
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Physical Geography (programme PřF, N-GK)
- Course objectives
- The subject deals with patterns of development of atmospheric processes with the aim to specify their future development and elaborate a prognosis of synoptic situation, which determines specific weather condition and values of individual meteorological indicators.
- Syllabus
- Subject and main tasks of synoptic meteorology, working methods. Basic terms, circulation of atmosphere, thermo-baric atmospheric field (analysis of height meteorological maps, advection flows in free atmosphere), air masses (conditions of growth and duration, VH transformation, VH classification), frontal zones and fronts (classification, influence of orography), pressure bodies (classification, stages of development), principles of meteorological maps analysis. Prognosis of synoptic situation (sources of information ground, heights, remote sensing; types of forecast, working methods). Use of models in synoptic meteorology.
