- Course objectives
- At the end of the course the students are able to: Understand and explain developmental processes; Identify structures formed during embryogenesis; Interpret and explain recent knowledge and problems in regenerative and reproductive medicine; Formulate and discuss hypothesis about ontogenesis and evolution.
- Syllabus
- Embryology, lectures 2 hour weekly, exam. 1 Introduction, general terms, basic molecular regulations; 2 Reproduction, gametogenesis, fertilization; 3 Blastogenesis; 4 Sub/fertility, reproductive medicine; 5 Gastrulation and tissue development; 6 Somites, neurogenesis; 7 Development of body cavities; 8 Development of the respiratory and cardiovascular system; 9 Development of the gastrointestinal tract; 10 Development of the urogenital tract; 11 Development of the muscular and skeletal system; 12 Development of the integument; 13 Postembryonal development, regeneration, stem cells. Within each topic: Explanation of the mechanisms of embryonic development (human model), deviations from the normal development and pathologies, molecular background, comparative embryology.
