- Course objectives
- This course deepens theoretical knowledge of students from the lecture of Plant genetics and is aimed at applications in the field of crops breeding.
- Syllabus
- 1. Gene sources and cultural plants origin. Genome changes in evolution. 2. Plant breeding - History and function, genetic analysis in breeding, záměrné genetic variability in breeding and its sources such as mutagenesis, hybridization, polyploidy, haploidy, tissue culture and biotechnology . Moleculár markers and their application in breeding, molecular breeding . 3. Genome changes and their significance. 4. Interspecific and intergeneric hybridization - application in plant breeding. 5. Alogamy and autogamy in plants - Classic methods of plant breeding. 6. Plant species with asexual propagation and breeding. Mutagenesis in their breeding. 7. Genetic determination of male sterility and its significance in plant breeding. 8. Heterosis - Breeding hybrid cultivars. 9. Nitrogen fixation - Plant species and Rhisobium interaction, symbiosis. 10. Selected breeding objectives - breeding for physiological and morphological traits, for resistance to diseases, for resistance to abiotic stresses. Fenetic engineering. 11. Breeding selected crops. 12. Cultivar release and commercial seed production.
