Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows, to learn: Protista: A new classification of Protists and recent information about their organelles. Porifera: Distribution and classification of our freshwater sponges. Cnidaria: Anatomy of Hydra. Life cycle, distribution and morphological peculiarities of some species of Hydrozoa. Platyhelminthes: Structure and distribution of our free-living flatworms. Structure of Gnathostomulida. Cephalorhyncha: Structure of Loricifera. Mollusca: Biology and distribution of our Molluscs. Dissection. Annelida: Recent informations about anatomy and biology of earthworms. Rare Annelids in our fauna. Pogonophora: Cycliophorida, Ectoprocta, Hemichordata: Recent informations about anatomy and biology. Crustacea: Distribution and biology of some species in our fauna. Dissection.

  • 1. Current classification of unicellular eukaryotes and basic information about common species of our fauna.
  • 2. Identification of common species of unicellular eukaryotes of our fauna.
  • 3. "Sponges" of our fauna, identification, ecology, life cycle, and practical identification.
  • 4. Cnidarians of our fauna, identification, ecology, life cycle, and practical identification.
  • 5. Terrestrial snails of our fauna, common species and their identification, ecology and distribution.
  • 6. Aquatic snails and bivalves, common species and their identification, ecology and distribution.
  • 7. Current phylogeny of "Crustaceans".
  • 8. "Crustaceans" of our fauna, common species and their identification, ecology and distribution.
  • 9. Annelids, current phylogeny, interesting taxa.
  • 10. Current phylogeny of Metazoans, little known and recently described species, current knowledge - I.
