Course objectives (in Czech)
The aim of the course is to engage students in a variety of activities which will develop students´ own writing style based on a study of examples - this semester we will be looking at the structure and various characteristics of a research article. By the end of the course students will have edited and finalized their own research articles based on developing their writing around the I M R A D structure. Information on introduction, methods, results and discussion sections will be presented, followed by students´own writing in the form of drafts to be finalized.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • We are going to explore the genre of research article in general and geographical settings. If need and interest, basics of public speaking (giving oral presentations) and useful phrases will be tackled as well. This will happen in 6 two-session teaching days distributed throughout the semester between end-September and beginning of December 2011.
